We are a master limited partnership formed on March 16, 2015 to manage and further develop all of our sponsor's active coal operations in Pennsylvania. All amounts discussed in this section are in thousands, except for per unit or per ton amounts, unless otherwise indicated. At December31, 2019 , our assets are comprised of a 25% undivided interest in, and operational control over, the Pennsylvania Mining Complex, which consists of three underground mines and related infrastructure that produce high-British thermal unit (Btu) coal that is sold primarily to electric utilities in the eastern United States.
