CVS Health Corp announced it will hire 25,000 employees for clinical and retail jobs ahead of the flu season and administration of booster COVID-19 vaccine shots in U.S.
The company said that most of the available jobs were for full-time, part-time, and temporary licensed pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and nurses. CVS is also looking for people for its retail stores.
As the country struggles with workers shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CVS recently raised the minimum hourly wages for its staff to attract employees.
CVS, which is currently offering COVID-19 tests and vaccines, said on Monday that the hiring campaign on September 24 would help it administer the shots.
The Biden administration had planned to make booster shots available widely this week, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last week rejected the broader approval. FDA, instead, recommended the use for the age of 65 and above and those at risk of severe illness.
Last year in March, CVS said it would hire 50,000 employees due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company also hired more than 15,000 people in the fourth quarter of 2020.
CVS has already administered more than 34 million COVID-19 vaccines and over 32 million tests.
