• Amazon said the outage was related to network devices and was linked to API
• Downdetector showed more than 28,000 incidents of people reporting issues
An outage on Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Tuesday resulted in several Amazon’s services including Prime Video and other application being dormant for many users in the U.S.
Amazon said that the outage was related to network devices and was linked to API (application programming interface.)
"This issue is also affecting some of our monitoring and incident response tooling, which is delaying our ability to provide updates," said the company.
"We are pursuing multiple mitigation paths in parallel, and have seen some signs of recovery, but we do not have an ETA for full recovery at this time."
Downdetector, which detects outages, showed more than 28,000 incidents of people reporting issues.
Amazon’s Ring security camera was also facing issues and said it was aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.
Robot vacuum cleaner iRobot also faced the issues and said a major AWS outage was impacting its iRobot Home app.
Many websites including Reddit, Amazon, CNN, PayPal, Spotify, Al Jazeera Media Network and the New York Times was hit by a major outage in June as the network provider Fastly Inc was down.
According to web tool reviewing website ToolTester, users have experienced 27 outages over the past 12 months related to Amazon services.
