Google (GOOG) is letting go of some Covid-19 related mandates for employees as it plans to reopen its offices.
Google Real Estate and Workplace Services VP David Radcliffe told employees in the San Francisco Bay Area that the company has decided to relax some rules regarding vaccines, testing, social distancing, and masks.
In an email, Radcliffe said the company will also restart perks such as massages and access to informal spaces, which the tech giant has to suspend during the pandemic.
Google is preparing for a “hybrid” word model where the employees will be required to come to office for at least three days a week.
Relaxations that the company is offering include lifting the testing requirement imposed in January, even to vaccinated employees.
Google will also drop its social distancing and masks requirements for vaccinated employees in most areas.
Radcliffe said that the company is reopening facilities, including fitness centers, restoring full shuttle service, and opening lounges, game rooms, music rooms, etc.
“We’re at the beginning of a journey, so the office experience will feel pretty similar to what it was like pre-Covid,” Radcliffe said.
“We’re designing and piloting options to support new ways of working together and we’ll gather insights, data and feedback to help us learn as we go.”
