• Requested budget includes $773 billion for Pentagon spending
• Fiscal 2023 security spending $43 billion more than budget office projected last year
U.S. President Joe Biden is reportedly planning to request $813.3 billion for the national security spending in the federal budget next year.
The budget will mark one of the biggest national security investments in American history, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing White House officials.
It’s an increase of $31 billion from approved spending for 2022 and about $43 billion more than the projected budget for 2023, which the White House budget office had expected a year back.

The report said Biden will send the spending plan to Congress on Monday and will help strengthen U.S. allies in Europe and the Indo-Pacific and provide assistance to Ukraine.
The entire budget amount will include $773 billion for the Pentagon, officials told Bloomberg.
The request will include $130.1 billion for the Pentagon’s research and development of hypersonics and artificial intelligence. Biden has also requested $145.9 billion for the procurement of 61 F-35 fighter jets, B-21 bombers and two Virginia-class submarines, the report said.
The full national security budget includes spending for the Defense Department, the Energy Department’s nuclear weapons and the FBI’s national security functions.

The reported budget reflects the increasing military challenge from China as well as Russia’s aggression into Ukraine.
It is expected that the national spending budget will be supported in Congress amid the war and international turmoil.
