Ford Motors (NYSE: F) would be recalling 7 37,000 vehicles in the US to fix oil leaks and trailer braking systems that won’t work.
The automaker is recalling 345,451 of its 2020-2022 Ford Escape and 2021-2022 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles with 1.5L engines to fix a part that could cause oil leaks. In addition to the faulty part, software errors in the recalled vehicles could prevent the braking systems from functioning properly.
The engine oil separator housing could crack and oil could leak into engine parts creating a fire hazard.
Reuters reported that Ford has 67 reports of improper function and at least eight fires, without any related injuries or crashes, which could be related to the issue.
Auto dealers will inspect the oil separator for damage or oil leaks, and replace the oil separator and seals, as necessary.
Two weeks ago, Ford Motors had issued another recall for 157,306 F-150 pickup trucks, over a faulty windshield wiper issue.
The trucks belonged to the 2021 batch and could crash in case of rain.
