Ukrainian forces have retaken crucial terrain in the north of Ukraine, after denying Russia the ability to secure their goals and forcing them to retreat from the districts around Chernihiv and north of Kyiv, said the British Ministry of Defence.

“Low-level fighting is likely to continue in some parts of the newly recaptured regions, but diminish significantly over this week as the remainder of Russian forces withdraw,” British MoD tweeted.
Many Russian troops departing from northern Ukraine would very certainly require extensive re-equipment and refurbishment before they can be redeployed to eastern Ukraine, the ministry said in its intelligence report.
