Authorities reported multiple blasts in Ukraine's western and southern districts of Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk on Monday that killed many people and sparked fires in the city.
On Twitter, the mayor of Lviv, Andrey Sadovoy, announced that the city had been hit by "five targeted missile strikes."
According to regional governor Maksym Kozystkiy, missiles attacked military buildings and a car tire service facility in Lviv, killing six persons and injuring eight more, Reuters reported.
Officials claimed some of the missiles impacted locations near a train station and other railroad infrastructure, affecting routine traffic for a limited period.
Lviv, located nearly 43 miles from the Polish border, is a vital hub for linking rail transit and export routes, especially now for armament transfers from Poland.
Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Valentyn Reznichenko said the oblast suffered an attack early in the morning on April 18, but that “60% of missiles were shot down by Ukraine’s air defense systems,” The Kyiv Independent states tweeted.
