Stock futures gained early Thursday as investors expected remarks from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 0.75 %. The S&P 500 futures ticked up 0.91%, while the Nasdaq futures increased 1.3 %.
During the regular trading on Wednesday, The Dow rose 280 points, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite was ticked down 1%. The S&P 500 finished flat.
Powell will speak at the International Monetary Fund Debate on the Global Economy at 1 p.m. ET, which investors are anticipating.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note surged to 2.861 %. The 30-year Treasury yield advanced to 2.903 %. Yields move in the opposite direction of prices, and one basis point equals 0.01 %.
The Treasury yield has risen sharply ahead of critical inflation statistics.
