The Senate approved Bridget Brink as the United States ambassador to Ukraine late Wednesday, as officials prepare to send American diplomats back to Kyiv, AP reported.
President Joe Biden last month nominated the senior foreign service officer, who has spent most of her career under the shadow of the former Soviet Union, the report said.
The ambassador position has been vacant since former President Donald Trump unceremoniously drove out Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch in 2019.
Brink was unanimously confirmed by the Senate without a formal roll call vote.
Meanwhile, the US reopened its embassy in Kyiv three months after it was closed before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Blinken announced the return of US diplomats to Ukraine during a visit to Kyiv in late April, and they began making a day visit to Lviv.
