Luhansk official Rodion Miroshnik said that the number of Ukrainian prisoners of war detained in the Russian-backed self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics is around 8,000, RIA news agency reported.
“There are a lot of prisoners. Of course, there are more of them on the Donetsk People’s Republic territory, but we also have enough, and now the total number is somewhere in the region of 8,000. That’s a lot, and hundreds are being added every day,” Miroshnik said.
According to Miroshnik, the number of "both prisoners and the dead" will only grow.
