The United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) recorded 9,029 civilian casualties in Ukraine from February 24 until midnight local time on May 30.
According to the latest civilian casualty report from the OHCHR, 4,113 persons have died and 4,916 have been injured.
The majority of civilian deaths were caused by the “use of explosive weapons with a wide impact area, such as heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems shelling, as well as missile and air attacks,” the UN said in a report.
However, the real statistics were far higher, according to the organization, because the information from regions where intense hostilities have been going including Mariupol, Izyum, and Popasna, are still pending.
