Russia's foreign minister Serbia’s trip has been canceled after many European nations refused to allow the aircraft to travel there.
Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Montenegro barred their airspace, preventing Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov from flying to Serbia's capital, Belgrade.
“An unthinkable thing has happened,” Lavrov said during an online news conference Monday, AP News reported. “A sovereign state has been deprived of its right to conduct foreign policies. The international activities of Serbia on the Russian track have been blocked.”
Lavrov further said he would welcome his Serbian colleague to Moscow, adding that “the main thing is no one will be able to destroy our relations with Serbia,” a country with which Russia has close connections.
