Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) cancelled three online hiring events for China scheduled this month, after CEO Elon Musk said it was “overstaffed.”
China, which manufactures more than half of the Tesla’s vehicles, had three events for positions in sales, R&D and its supply chain. The hiring events, which got cancelled, were scheduled for June 16, June 23 and June 30, reported Reuters.
In an email to employees, Musk said it had become "overstaffed in many areas" and therefore Tesla would reduce salaried headcount by a tenth.
Production at Tesla’s facility in Shanghai was impacted due to the imposition of two-month Covid-19 lockdown in the city.
