• The deliveries of the aircraft are expected in 2026
EasyJet said on Tuesday it will buy 56 Airbus A320neo aircraft in an attempt to renew its fleet that would produce lower emissions and less noise.
The proposed order of the British low-cost airline is due shareholders’ approval.
The deliveries of the aircraft are expected in 2026, the company said, replacing the carrier's older A319 and A320 aircraft.
EasyJet said it has secured a significant reduction on the order, whose list price is around $6.5 billion, as part of its original 2013 deal.
The airline said that if it does not receive the order in the 2026 slot, it would be exposed to higher fuel costs and carbon taxes.
