US President Joe Biden on Sunday morning announced that the Group of Seven (G7) nations will prohibit the import of Russian gold to put pressure on Moscow’s economy.
“The United States has imposed unprecedented costs on Putin to deny him the revenue he needs to fund his war against Ukraine,” President Joe Biden said on Twitter.
“Together, the G7 will announce that we will ban the import of Russian gold, a major export that rakes in tens of billions of dollars for Russia,” Biden said.
The move comes after Zelenskyy condemned the attack on Kyiv on Sunday, killing a 37-year-old man and injuring at least six others, and said that "the world's second army triumphantly 'defeated' a kindergarten and an apartment building."
