In the wake of the overturn judgment of the Roe vs Wade verdict, several large private equity firms, including Blackstone and TPG (NASDAQ: TPG), pledged to cover any abortion-related travel costs for US employees who live in states where the procedure is outlawed.
TPG CEO Jon Winkelried, released a memo late Friday, accessed by Reuters, stating that the company would reimburse its employees for travel and lodging expenses for out-of-state abortion and reproduction care services.
“We know that there may be people who are having a difficult time with this decision, and we want to make sure that you have access to resources that support you,” Winkelried said.
On Friday, the US Supreme Court issued a ruling overturning its 1973 Roe versus Wade decision that recognized a woman's constitutional right to an abortion and legalized the practice nationwide.
