US stocks ended flat on Friday as job growth accelerated at a much faster pace than expected in June.
The Nasdaq gained 0.12% to settle at 11,635.31, while the S&P 500 declined 0.08% to 3,899.38 on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 0.15%, at 31,338.15.
This is the first time in this year that Nasdaq has risen for five straight days.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday reported that nonfarm payrolls increased 372,000 in June, topping Dow Jones’ estimate of 250,000 jobs.
For the week, the Nasdaq gained 4.6%, while the S&P 500 was up about 1.9%. The Dow gained about 0.8%.
