The death toll from the Russian rocket attack on the apartment complex in Chasiv Yar has risen to 48, said Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy.
“Debris clearance continues after the Russian attack on the city of Chasiv Yar,” Zelenskyy said in his video address. “As of this time, the list of the dead includes 48 people, including one child. Unfortunately, the number of those rescued has not changed - 9 people.”
Chasiv Yar, a 12,000-person town about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Kramatorsk, was targeted by Russian Uragan rockets fired from truck-borne weaponry.
“It was one of the most brutal Russian strikes during the entire war - so many victims... My condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims,” the Ukrainian leader said.
Earlier on June 28, at least 19 people were killed when a Russian missile struck a retail mall in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk.
