The first shipment of grain exports from Ukraine in months has left the port of Odesa, according to the statistics from MarineTraffic.com.
According to the Turkish government, the cargo ship Razoni, which is registered in Sierra Leone, has sailed for Lebanon. The UN statement said that Razoni is carrying more than 26,000 metric tonnes of corn.
The cargo comes after Russia and Ukraine signed a United Nations-proposed agreement in Turkey to allow grain shipments from Black Sea ports.
Russia and Ukraine are both significant worldwide wheat exporters, but Moscow's invasion of Kyiv has sent prices skyrocketing and fueled the global food crisis.
For the last two months, the UN and Turkey have been negotiating an arrangement to restore Ukraine's Black Sea grain exports while also facilitating Russian grain and fertilizer supplies.
