The first Ukrainian grain shipment from Odesa port has been lauded as an "important first step" by the UK's foreign minister.
“Russia has felt the full weight of global pressure and the eyes of the whole world will now be watching to see if they continue to weaponize global food supplies as they have been until now,” Liz Truss said in a statement posted on Twitter.
“These ships must receive safe passage. There must be no repeat of Russia’s shelling of the port of Odesa,” she said
UK foreign minister further said that the only way “Putin can truly alleviate the global food security crisis he has created is by ending his brutal invasion of Ukraine.”
According to the Turkish government, the cargo ship Razoni, which is registered in Sierra Leone, sailed for Lebanon on Monday morning. The UN statement said that Razoni is carrying more than 26,000 metric tonnes of corn.
