Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) started offering its customers tools and know-how to repair guide to service their MacBook laptops at home months after launching the service for iPhones.
The Cupertino-giant said genuine parts and service tools will be available starting August 23. Customers can buy the repair kits or rent them for one-time use for $49.
Self-repairs are possible only on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with the M1 chips.
“The programme will expand to additional countries — beginning in Europe — as well as additional Mac models later this year,” Apple said in a press release.
In April, Apple launched self-repair services for select iPhone models in the United States.
The development comes after Apple agreed to pay $50 million in July to settle a class-action lawsuit related to “butterfly” keyboards on some models of MacBook laptops.
