Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) Chief Executive Parag Agrawal on Wednesday said the whistleblower’s accusations are “foundationally, technically and historically inaccurate,” Reuters reported, citing an audio clip of an internal companywide meeting heard by the news outlet.
Sean Edgett, the general counsel of the social media company, told employees that Twitter reached out to various agencies worldwide before the news broke.
Twitter’s former security chief Peiter Zatko filed a whistleblower complaint that the company misled federal regulators about its defenses against hackers and said executives are not motivated and don’t have the resources to understand the actual number of bots on the platform entirely.
The social media company is also in a legal battle with billionaire Elon Musk, who is attempting to walk away from his $44 billion offer to buy the company.
Agrawal on Wednesday said Twitter will need to be more selective about the projects it pursues.
“The only way for us to deliver is by narrowing our focus to fewer things and for that to be proportionate to number of people here,” he said.
