BERWYN, Pa. (AP) _ Ametek Inc. (AME) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $307.1 million.
On a per-share basis, the Berwyn, Pennsylvania-based company said it had profit of $1.33. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs, came to $1.52 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.47 per share.
The maker of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices posted revenue of $1.63 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.58 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.16 billion, or $5.01 per share. Revenue was reported as $6.15 billion.
For the current quarter ending in March, Ametek expects its per-share earnings to range from $1.38 to $1.42.
The company expects full-year earnings in the range of $5.84 to $6 per share.
Ametek shares have risen almost 4% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has climbed slightly more than 7%. The stock has climbed nearly 6% in the last 12 months.
