On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had a loss of 93 cents.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $1.17 per share.
The company posted revenue of $88.4 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $78.9 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $297.8 million, or $4.59 per share. Revenue was reported as $256.7 million.
For the current quarter ending in March, Lemonade said it expects revenue in the range of $87 million to $89 million.
The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $375 million to $379 million.
