On a per-share basis, the Conshohocken, Pennsylvania-based company said it had a loss of $4.24. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.39 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.22 per share.
The specialty chemical company posted revenue of $484.8 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported a loss of $15.9 million, or 89 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $1.94 billion.
