The Camden, New Jersey-based company said it had net income of 68 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for restructuring costs and amortization costs, were 80 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 77 cents per share.
The maker of canned soup, Pepperidge Farm cookies and V8 juice posted revenue of $2.46 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.42 billion.
Campbell expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.09 to $3.15 per share.
