On a per-share basis, the Burnaby, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 68 cents. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs and to account for discontinued operations, were 19 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 13 cents per share.
The fuel cell technology company posted revenue of $14.8 million in the period, also falling short of Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $24.7 million.
The company's shares closed at $1.73. A year ago, they were trading at $3.53.
