Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy agrees to restructured contract after 3-9 season

Mike Gundy is coming back.

Oklahoma State announced Saturday that its longtime football coach agreed to a new deal. The restructuring comes after the Cowboys, among the preseason favorites in the Big 12, finished with a disappointing 3-9 record. A rash of injuries and problems at quarterback ruined a season that culminated with a 52-0 loss at Colorado.

Gundy has talked often about how difficult it is to compete financially in this era, and it appears his deal has been restructured to reflect that. News reports published before the announcement said some of Gundy’s salary will be reallocated for revenue sharing with players.

The school said details will be announced once the contract is signed.
