ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia right guard Tate Ratledge couldn't believe it when he heard quarterback Carson Beck calling the final play in overtime of the Southeastern Conference championship game against Texas.

Beck was thought to be out for the remainder of the game with an arm injury suffered on the last play of the first half. Coach Kirby Smart told ESPN he didn't think Beck would return. The quarterback's right arm was wrapped in ice on the sideline, adding to the belief he would not come off the sideline.

A hard hit on Beck's backup, Gunner Stockton, in overtime changed the plan. Stockton had to leave the field for one play after his helmet was knocked off.

It was Beck who returned to take the last snap and hand off to Trevor Etienne for the running back's decisive 4-yard touchdown run in No. 5 Georgia's 22-19 overtime victory over No. 2 Texas on Saturday.
