Vincent Sorgi is president and chief executive officer of PPL Corporation, Inc.(PPL) one of the largest investor-owned utility companies in the United States. With more than 25 years of experience in the utility industry, Sorgi oversees PPL’s high-performing, award-winning regulated utilities in the United States.
Prior to his current role, Sorgi served as president and chief operating officer from July 2019 to May 2020, leading execution of PPL’s long-term growth strategy and overseeing the overall performance of PPL’s regulated utilities.
Sorgi served as executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) from January 2019 to July 2019 and as senior vice president and CFO from 2014 to 2019, overseeing PPL’s investor relations, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, risk management, controllership and strategic development functions. As CFO, Sorgi played a key role in leading PPL through the spinoff of its competitive generation business in 2015.
Before becoming CFO, he served four years as vice president and controller for PPL Corporation and three years as controller for PPL’s former energy supply and marketing business.
He joined PPL in 2006 as financial director of the former PPL Generation subsidiary. Prior to joining PPL, he worked for Public Service Enterprise Group and Deloitte & Touche.
Sorgi earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from Villanova University. He is a graduate of the Nuclear Technology Program of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2017, the Penn State Alumni Association named Sorgi an Alumni Fellow — the organization’s highest award — for his outstanding leadership and performance.
Sorgi serves as the first chair of the Electric Power Research Institute’s Board of Directors. He’s also on the board of directors for St. Luke’s Health Network and the Edison Electric Institute. He is a member of EPRI’s Executive Committee and chair of EPRI’s Compensation and Leadership Development (C&LD) Committee and is a member of EEI’s Executive Committee and co-chair of EEI’s State Policy CEO Committee. He also serves as an emeritus member on the Board of Trustees of the Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
