Ukraine has no intention of deploying US-supplied weaponry to attack Russian territory, said Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak.
“Task #1 today for Russia — to undermine trust between 🇺🇦 and 🇺🇸. Ukraine is waging a defensive war and does not plan to use the MLRS to attack facilities in 🇷🇺,” Podolyak said in a tweet.
“Our partners know where their weapons are used. Any allegations of such intentions - PSYOP of 🇷🇺 special services,” Podolyak said.
Earlier, the US said it will deliver Ukraine with the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), which can precisely reach targets up to 80 kilometers (50 miles) away.
Russia has warned that US President Joe Biden's intention to arm Ukraine with powerful missile weapons raises the potential of direct conflict between Moscow and Washington.
