Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his night video address that Russia has forcefully deported over 200,000 Ukrainian children.
These include children from orphanages, children taken with their parents, and children separated from their families.
According to the president, about 700 children have been injured or died as a result of Russia's assaults, with an additional 139 children still missing.
Zelenskyy on International Children's Day said “The purpose of this criminal policy is not just to steal people but to make those who are deported forget about Ukraine and unable to return.”
The prosecutor general's office in Ukraine said 261 children have been killed and 460 have been injured since the war began.
