Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that his soldiers will not abandon positions in Severodonetsk while neighboring cities were constantly shelled as the Kremlin wants to capture the eastern Donbas area.
“Our heroes do not give up positions in Severodonetsk. In the city, fierce street fighting continues,” Zelenskyy said in the nightly video address.
"They outnumber us, they are more powerful," Zelenskiy told reporters at a briefing. But Ukraine's forces have "every chance" of fighting back, he added.
Lysychansk, Slovyansk, Bakhmut, Sviatohirya, Avdiivka, Kurakhove, and other Russian attack directions are the major battlegrounds of conflict.
Zelenskyy further said The Russian army is trying to use additional forces in the Donbas direction, “but it is the 103rd day - and the Ukrainian Donbas stands. It stands firmly.”
Meanwhile, the UK defense Ministry in its intelligence report said that Russian soldiers are also marching on Sloviansk, which is around 85 kilometers (53 miles) west of Severodonetsk.
