More than 1,000 Ukrainian forces who surrendered in the city of Mariupol have been sent to Russia for investigation, a law enforcement source told TASS on Wednesday.
"Over 1,000 people from Azovstal have been transferred to Russia. Law enforcement officers are working with them. Investigators also plan to send several other captives to Russia in the future, following a series of face-to-face confrontations," the source said.
Tass report had no formal remarks from the investigative authorities or law enforcement agencies.
According to Tass, more Ukrainian prisoners will be sent to Russia in the future. Ukraine has said that it is seeking to get all detainees released, but some Russian politicians believe they should be prosecuted.
