Western countries are unwilling to contemplate peaceful settlement as a solution to the Ukraine conflict, said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Russian news agency Tass reported.
"Peaceful settlement is off the table as far as Ukraine is concerned, that is the concept of NATO-centered Washington and Western countries in general," said the Zakharova.
She said that the US had hampered peace attempts since the conflict began eight years ago.
We have seen the United States, which is not even a party to the Normandy arrangement, impede all settlement efforts, said Zakharova, Tass quoted.
Russian Diplomat said, “This is no new Western concept; this is its new phase.”
Earlier, Ukraine and Russia claimed separately that peace talks between the two countries had halted, blaming one other for the break.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to launch attacks from three directions on the Severodonetsk pocket, despite Ukrainian defenses holding but “neither side is likely to have made much progress.”
