The Ukrainian official said Russian soldiers burned down the grain fields in the country's southeastern Zaporizhzhia area.
“Remember this picture every time Russians say they care about global food security,” Oleg Nikolenko, spokesperson for Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said in a tweet.
“Millions of people across the world will face hunger - because Russia launched a brutal war against Ukraine.”
Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Russia at the United Nations Security Council of using food as a weapon in Ukraine.
“The Russian Government seems to believe that using food as a weapon will help accomplish what its invasion has not: to break the spirit of the Ukrainian people,” Blinken said.
Blinken further accuses the Russian military of virtually holding hostage the food supply for millions of Ukrainians and others across the world.
Meanwhile, Russian tanks, explosives, and mines are stopping Ukraine from planting and harvesting crops.
Although, Moscow has repeatedly denied the allegations of weaponizing Ukraine's food supplies.
