Amazon Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN) said on Thursday its US sales during the Prime Day event jumped 8.5% from the last year, making it the biggest event in the company’s history.
The ecommerce company sold 300 million items in the two-day shopping event, reporting sales of nearly $12 billion in the US.
Shoppers have been looking for discounts as the US economy is hit 40-year high inflation levels.
“This year was the biggest Prime Day event for Amazon's selling partners, most of whom are small and medium-sized businesses, whose sales growth in Amazon’s store outpaced Amazon's retail business,” the company said.
