Troubled-Scandinavian airline and pilots’ union reached an agreement on Monday after hundreds of flights got cancelled due to the strike, reported Norwegian media.
About 1,000 of the airlines’ pilots went on a strike on July 4 as around 560 pilots had lost their jobs during the pandemic. The airline has been working on a restructuring plan for months.
According to the Norwegian daily Dagbladet, the airline and the union have reached an agreement to end the strike.
“This is a tragedy for the pilots, purely contractually. But it is good that we are done and that we get the planes back in the air,” said a union labour official, Jan Levi Skogvang.
SAS, which had to cancel several flights this month, is among the other airlines that are hit by the lockdowns in the pandemic.
“We have a deal. Now we will only get the last signatures in place,” said chairman of the board of SAS, Carsten Dilling.
SAS had filed for bankruptcy protection in the US on July 5.
