Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has sacked another top official of the domestic security agency (SBU) and appointed several new regional officers for the unit.
“The renewal of the power vertical of the state is in progress. Today I appointed new heads of regional offices of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zakarpattia, Poltava, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions,” Zelenskyy said in his nightly video address. “I also dismissed one of the deputy heads of the Security Service of Ukraine.”
Zelenskyy over the weekend terminated Ukraine's security chief and prosecutor general due to many incidents of personnel of their agency collaborating with Russia had come to light.
The Ukrainian leader said a new Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine - Oksana Zholnovych - was also appointed.
“I expect her to be more active in explaining to people all the nuances of state social policy - specific people's rights, payment mechanisms, and other opportunities provided by the state,” he said.
