The Kremlin on Monday said that a Russian missile assault on the Ukrainian port of Odesa would not affect the grain shipment deal.
"These strikes are connected exclusively with military infrastructure," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, Reuters reported.
"They are in no way related to infrastructure that is used for the export of grain. This should not affect - and will not affect - the beginning of shipments."
Russia launched its offensive on Saturday, only hours after Kyiv and Moscow inked the historic grain deal.
The attack on Odesa cast doubt on whether the deal would go through or whether all parties would honor the commitments reached in Istanbul. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the strike on Saturday an act of barbarism.
