First grain ship to depart Ukraine moored off Turkish coast
- The Razoni is carrying more than 26,000 metric tonnes of corn from Ukraine
The first grain-carrying ship to depart Ukrainian ports has safely docked off the coast of Turkey.
The first ship, the Razoni, anchored near the Bosphorus entry from the Black Sea at around 18:00 GMT, 36 hours after leaving Ukraine's Odesa port.
The UN statement said that Razoni is carrying more than 26,000 metric tonnes of corn.
Russia and Ukraine are both significant worldwide wheat exporters, but Moscow's invasion of Kyiv has sent prices skyrocketing and fueled the global food crisis.
According to Turkey's Defense Ministry, a group from the Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) in Istanbul, where Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, and UN officials operate, is scheduled to assess the ship at 07:00 GMT on Wednesday.
