Britain says Russian naval fleet struggles to exert effective sea control
- Russia's entire invasion plan is undermined by the Black Fleet's now meager efficacy
The UK ministry of defense in its intelligence report said the Black Sea Fleet continues to use long-range cruise missiles to support ground offensives but is currently struggling to exercise effective sea control.
“It has lost its flagship, MOSKVA; a significant portion of its naval aviation combat jets; & control of Snake Island,” the ministry said.
Russia's entire invasion plan is undermined by the Black Fleet's now meager efficacy, in part because the amphibious danger to Odesa has been substantially eliminated. As a result, Ukraine may use resources elsewhere to pressure Russian ground forces.
Also, the ministry in a tweet said “surface vessels of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet continue to pursue an extremely defensive posture, with patrols generally limited to waters within sight of the Crimean coast.”
