'No indication' Russian missiles targeted Ukrainian warship and ammunition at Odesa: UK
- Russia claims that it used high-precision Kalibr missiles to target a ship maintenance factory in Odesa
The UK Ministry of defense in its intelligence report said there is "no indication" that a missile strike on Odesa's port last weekend destroyed a Ukrainian vessel and a stockpile of anti-ship missiles, despite Russia's assertions.
Earlier, Russia claims that it used high-precision Kalibr missiles to target a ship maintenance factory in Odesa, destroying a warship in the dock and a depot of Harpoon missiles provided by the United States.
“Russia almost certainly perceives anti-ship missiles as a key threat which is limiting the effectiveness of their Black Sea Fleet,” the MoD said in a tweet. “This has significantly undermined the overall invasion plan, as Russia cannot realistically attempt an amphibious assault to seize Odesa.”
Russia will prioritize measures to weaken and destroy Ukraine's anti-ship capacity. However, Russia's targeting techniques are very certainly compromised regularly by outdated intelligence, bad planning, and a top-down approach to operations, the ministry said.
