Mykhailo Podolyak, President Zelenskyy's adviser, has said that Ukraine needs additional heavy weaponry as the Russian attack in the Donbas accelerates.
“Being straightforward – to end the war we need heavy weapons parity: 1000 howitzers caliber 155 mm; 300 MLRS; 500 tanks; 2000 armored vehicles; 1000 drones,” Podolyak said in a tweet on Monday.
He further said that a decision on further weapon shipments is likely on Wednesday when NATO defense ministers will meet at NATO's headquarters in Brussels.
Earlier President Zelenskyy emphasized his country's need for advanced air defense systems from the West.
He said that such defense systems may have prevented several attacks, including an air strike on Ternopil on Sunday that left ten people hospitalized.
