The Biden administration announced another $450 million military aid package for Ukraine including new medium-range rocket systems.
The most recent package contains four High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, 36,000 105 mm rounds of ammunition, 18 combat vehicles capable of towing 155 mm artillery, 1,200 grenade launchers, thousands of machine guns, and some other equipment and spare parts.
"As President [Joe] Biden told President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy when they spoke last week, the United States will continue to bolster Ukraine's defenses and support its sovereignty, its territorial integrity," National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said at the White House briefing.
The latest security package takes the US total commitment to $6.1 billion since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Since 2014, it has provided over $8.7 billion in security aid to Ukraine.
The Biden administration said US will continue to collaborate with its allies and partners to give Ukraine the capabilities it needs to fulfill its expanding battlefield requirements.
