More than 8.79 million people crossed border from Ukraine since Russian invasion: UN

The United Nations Refugee Agency said more than 8.79 million people have crossed the border from Ukraine since Russia's invasion in late February.


According to the agency's website, 8.793 million people have crossed since February 24.


More than 5.640 million individual refugees from Ukraine were recorded across Europe and around 3. 610 million refugees from Ukraine ARE registered for temporary protection or similar national protection schemes in Europe


These number indicates cross-border travel (and not individuals). Between the 18th and 23rd of February, an additional 105,000 individuals fled to the Russian Federation from the Donetsk and Luhansk provinces.


Earlier, the UN refugee agency, which had predicted that up to four million people would migrate this year, now estimates that $1.85 billion will be required to help refugees in neighboring countries.
