- ‘The rescue operation continues,’ said the department, after nine victims were rescued from the rubble
According to Ukraine's State Emergency Service, the death toll from the Russian rocket attack on the apartment complex in Chasiv Yar has risen to 47.
A nine-year-old child was among those killed, the deputy head of Ukraine's President office said in a telegram message on Wednesday.
Search and rescue crews were trying to rescue individuals trapped in the wreckage after the residential structure was struck over the weekend.
Chasiv Yar, a 12,000-person town about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Kramatorsk, was targeted by Russian Uragan rockets fired from truck-borne weaponry.
“The rescue operation continues,” said Ukraine's emergency services, after nine victims were rescued from the wreckage.
