German Chancellor Olaf Scholz speaking at the conclusion of the Group of Seven (G-7) summit in the Bavarian Alps on Tuesday said the West must develop a "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine.
"We are firmly committed to supporting Ukraine's reconstruction through an international reconstruction conference and an international reconstruction plan, which will be developed and implemented by Ukraine in close coordination with international partners," the German chancellor told reporters.
"We need a Marshall plan for Ukraine, it must also be well planned and developed, that is what we have set out to do," Scholz continued, alluding to the US-led effort to reconstruct Europe after World War II, DW reported.
“It's not going to be about an effort of a few years, it's going to be about many years," he said.
